Dear J.A. Myers Homes,
“We looked at many styles and neighborhoods before choosing our beautiful new home; but in every category, the Villas at Jackson Heights proved to be the best choice,” says Deb Krebs.
The basic home was already built, but still brand new when Deb and Greg discovered it. “There was a lot of opportunity for us to make interior choices that really made the home our own. Our kitchen and dining areas are a perfect example of how a J. A. Myers home can be customized to fit the individual needs of every buyer. We opted for a “split level” counter to separate the kitchen from the dining room, thus making the dining room a more formal area. The counter works beautifully as a buffet area; and in less formal situations provides extra seating space for guests…especially our grandchildren,” Deb says with a smile and that “grandmotherly” twinkle in her eye.
Deb and Greg chose to have separate garage and laundry room doors in our kitchen. (This is another example of how J. A. Myers can customize their models to meet the owners’ needs.) “We also had the opportunity to add under-cupboard lighting and were given an appliance allowance so that we could choose the appliances we wanted instead of accepting the builder’s choice. The kitchen is also “loaded” with specially-insulated electrical outlets that are not only handy, but also keep cold air from seeping in around the receptacles!” says Deb. Deb and Greg also opted to have the inside of their home professionally painted by the Myers interior work crew. This was an extra cost, but “extremely reasonable,” in their words.
The spacious living room boasts many outstanding focal points: First there’s the soaring cathedral ceiling and a stylish gas fireplace that actually helps to heat the home. (According to Deb and Greg Krebs, heating and cooling are very economical at the villa.) There are electrical outlets in the floor so that furniture can be placed in the middle of the room (perhaps facing the fireplace) without the danger of someone tripping over a cord. There’s also the elegant open stairway and crecent-shaped balcony that leads to a second floor guest suite complete with its own full bath and spacious closets. In the Kreb’s home this particular room accommodates the grandchildren when they visit, providing space to sleep or just to play. Alarge closet holds toys, books, games and extra clothes. The children like to include the picturesque balcony in “their” space. It’s a great place for playing games and keeping an eye on the adults in the living room below! This beautiful feature also provides the perfect perch for the family’s cat to preside over all activities!
The guest bedroom on the first floor can also be outfitted as a library, a study or a craft room. Nearby is another full bath. Of course, there’s a master suite with a 4-piece bath complete with a wonderfully large soaking tub, a separate walk-in shower with seat and lovely “his and hers” vanities.
Even outside, this villas are inviting! There’s a lovely patio/porch with every home, and a lush lawn and shrubbery that is completely maintained by the Jackson Heights maintenance crew. Another feature are the “miles” of smooth sidewalks for the walking pleasure and convenience of the homeowners.
Deb Krebs also tells us that the Villa Community at Jackson Heights is a neighborly, yet private place. “We keep an eye on each other without being intrusive. Camadrie between residents ranges from friendly waves and “hellos” with a bit of conversation to an occasional “dinner out,” which is open to any resident who wants to “know the neighbors better!” Sometimes 30 or more people go to these “meals out” at a local restaurant. It is not a Homeowners’ Association event; but simply a neighborly option in a charming community, where all live privately…but “together!”
Sincerely,
Greg and Deb Krebs

Dear J.A. Myers Homes,
We have been in our J. A. Myers home for four years now, and are delighted with all aspects of the home and the surrounding area here in South Central PA. The development was well planned and implemented by the builder; and the neighborhoods are a nice blend of owners…from young families to retirees. The Hanover area provides a wealth of great stores and shopping, a nice selection of restaurants and a good school system.
When choosing a home in the area, there are other builders doing business….however J. A. Myers is by far the best. From start of construction, all the way through the purchase process, the organization was outstanding.
There are many different models available for construction, with something to fit almost everyone’s requirements. What really makes J. A. Myers’s homes stand out is their commitment to customer satisfaction. They stand behind their product and will go the distance to make sure that the buyer is satisfied.
When you move into your new home, you will be asked to make up a “punch list” of items that need to be corrected or adjusted. Myers is diligent in being certain that it all is completed to your satisfaction. Any issues that we had with our home were promptly and professionally dealt with and corrected to our satisfaction.
About a year after moving in, we decided to have the basement “finished” and hired Myers to complete the job for us. The project came out beautifully…was completed in a professional manner, and at a very reasonable price.
Now that the housing market is “picking up” again, we suggest that you check out the new areas that J. A. Myers is constructing here in Hanover!
Sincerely,
Jim and Carol Weisz |

Ben,
My wife and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for making the purchase of our new home a very pleasurable experience. We were especially pleased with your sales agent. Ron not only conducted himself as a true professional, but was also extremely caring and understanding to our family’s needs during the process of our new acquisition. This type of personal treatment made our experience one that will be truly remembered. In closing we would like to thank you and your staff once again, and we will be certain to advise any one interested in moving into an outstanding community, of our experience with your company.

Dear Marilyn, Joe and Ben:
This letter is about two months overdue. We can only claim the craziness of moving and the holidays for its delay. We would like to share in writing what we said at settlement on November 30, 2009.
Having built a home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and been victims of an unskilled, unscrupulous builder, we were reluctant to build a home or buy new construction this time around. After examining our needs and options we decided, with trepidation, it really was our only option. Ken's move into a
new job in a new town meant things had to be done quickly.
We would never have guessed that Long and Foster and J. A. Myers Homes would be the answer to our prayers. Marilyn Wojcik was right on the money when she told us we would be in good hands with J. A. Myers. It took just one meeting to know that we were doubly in good hands with her helping us look for a house.
We walked into the Doral you built in Patriot's Choice and were blown away! Your attention to detail and willingness to make additions rapidly so we could settle soon were pleasant surprises. Minnie Gaona and Marti Barnes helped with our questions and often answered questions before we could ask
them. Donnie Berkheimer and his crew of skilled craftsmen were nothing less than amazing. These men are FAR more than construction workers. Rose Topper made settlement a breeze. Each and every one of you has been a gift. Please know you have our deepest appreciation for helping to make what could have been a very tumultuous time in our lives much easier to go through.
We are all settled in and this house is now a home. You are invited to stop in and see what we've done with the place any time you are in the neighborhood. As the warm weather comes you'll see changes outside as well. The landscaping is being planned and it will be lovely.
With gratitude and wishes for your continued success,
Ken and Cindy Pepper |

Dear Mr. Myers:
We recently took ownership and moved into our new home in Allwood Manor. To say that we are pleased with it would be an understatement. We are very happy with every aspect of the house so far, and look forward to completing the yard and landscaping this spring.
The people from J. A. Myers Homes made the entire process of planning and building the house, which can certainly become overwhelming, so much easier. Our salesperson, Minnie, was just fantastic. She was so helpful and patient throughout the planning and design process. What was most satisfying was how every person we dealt with was so helpful and courteous. It’s hard to believe that we could have completed and moved into our house so soon.
It’s very clear that a concerted effort was made by your company to choose employees and sub contractors that truly care about providing top-notch customer service. In talking to other people that have build homes, you tend to hear a lot of horror stories of how things didn’t go as planned. We just wanted you to know how pleasantly surprised we were with your company and hope that you will pass along our appreciation to all the people who helped make this a pleasant experience for us.
Thank you very much.
Yours truly,
Bradley A Rodgers and Thomas K Schneider

Dear J. A. Myers Building and Development,
Thank you for the holiday greeting. Receiving cards is one of life’s pleasures.
Thanks, too, for the tree (plum.) It should be lovely in the spring.
We very sincerely appreciate the fine caliber of workmen/women that you hire. They are industrious, polite, thoughtful and don’t interfere with the quality of life in our development any more than any building necessitates. They are quiet and clean up after their work.
Thanks also to Angel Mathias for all her professional and caring efforts. She represents you well!

Dear Ben:
Gene and I want to thank you for the great job your company did in building the house that we designed. All of the office and field persons were extremely knowledgeable and professional in what they did.
Ben, we want to especially thank you! You worked around our schedule, met with us when Gene was in town, and you gave a genuine interest for all our concerns. Above all, you made it all come together by April 30! I’ve never seen such team work.
Many thanks to you and your company. Much success in your future.
Sincerely,
Gene & Vera Beatty

Dear Mr. Myers:
Several weeks ago I called Myers Homes to express a concern about a sinkhole that had formed on my property due to tree trunks and other debris from the original clearing being buried and subsequently decaying and collapsing.
You told me you would send someone out to look at the situation and recommend appropriate action. Your company did review the situation and did fill, grade and seed the sinkhole area.
This letter is an expression of thanks. You were true to your word. You stood behind your work and did an excellent repair job. Such honesty and integrity are often missing in our world and it was rewarding to see a company meet its obligations with speed, quality and honesty.
Sincerely,
David C. Peck

Dear Ben,
Thank you, thank you again! We have had other homes built in other states and in northern PA, but you, Ben, are the very best!
We can’t stop telling everyone about the quality of home that you build and how you stand by that quality afterwards.
Thank you. Thank you.

Dear J.A. Myers,
Once my husband and I decided to relocate over 600 miles away (to be closer to a couple of our children) we knew it would not be easy deciding on a builder to build our “retirement home.” Everything became so much easier when we came upon High Pointe in Hanover, PA. We met and spoke with Patti Harris who was so very helpful and knowledgeable regarding each of the J. A. Myers Homes plans. What really settled us on a J. A. Myers Home was another visit to High Pointe. Mr. Joseph Myers came by and actually answered many of our questions. (After building four previous homes, we found that a “hands on” builder builds a better home than one who never is at the development.)
This thinking proved correct. To this day, Mr. Myers knows how our home is progressing and gives us information on it every month when we come to Hanover. He knows every home that is being built and is proud of them all!
One adage that we have here is “Good business owners surround themselves with good people.” This really describes J. A. Myers Homes. The day we went into the office to make selections regarding the building of our home, we met so many wonderful people. Rob helped us with the actual design of the house. He made any changes we asked for, and to this date, every change has been followed. Lisa was the color coordinator. She was so helpful and patient when we were undecided between two or three choices. Rose, we call “The Banker.” She knows where we are financially and tries to keep us on track. Shonna is the project manager and keeps things moving along. Sandy and Lindy are the first people we see upon entering the office. Their smiles and great attitudes are perfect for welcoming us and anyone else who comes in. When we are ready to leave the office, Rose calls Scott, the foreman. He always opens our house for us so we can see the progress being made on it and answers any questions we may have after walking through the house.
We know we have met other wonderful employees of J.A. Myers Homes and feel badly that we are omitting their names. However, we do want to tell you how pleased we are with everyone we have come in contact with and are very happy that we decided on a J. A. Myers Home.
Most Sincerely,
Tom and Carol Ostrowski
P.S. Actually, I started running builders and their modes off the internet a good two years ago. Every time we were out in Pennsylvania, we trudged over to another development. It wasn’t until we saw Patriot’s Choice (in Gettysburg) that we found the house that was perfect for us. Unfortunately, Patriot’s Choice was further than we wanted to be from our daughter. Needless to say, when we accidentally found J. A. Myers Homes building in Hanover, PA we were ecstatic!

Dear J.A. Myers,
I can’t tell you enough how wonderful you made our first time home purchase. Colleen and Brenda were (and continue to be) excellent, thoughtful, helpful and caring. Their “no-pushy” attitude made all the difference to us. Carlos was also excellent and very thorough. The house seems well constructed and just what we needed! Carlos is a perfectionist and we certainly appreciate it.
Thanks again for making this huge purchase go so smoothly.
Kind regards,

I would highly recommend this builder and all agents. Our realtor, Bill Wisman was superb on all levels – a real diamond in the rough. Very knowledgeable, caring and thoughtful. Like I said, superb service from everyone involved in this purchase.

Dear Myers Homes,
Brian and I moved to Jackson Heights on May 31, 2007. Previously, we lived in Columbia, MD, with our three children. After much research on the area along with the school districts, we thought this would be a good community to move to. My husband still works in Columbia, so the commute is about 1 hour 15 minutes. Finding back roads has made the commute less stressful. The ultimate decision to build with JA Myers was the layout of the community along with the ability to assist with the design and layout of our house.
After moving in, it took about three weeks to feel comfortable, living in a different, slower paced area. Now that we have been here for about four months, we love it. The Spring Grove School System has been wonderful and our children love it even more than their previous school. We also have been able to take advantage of all the activities. We have been to a corn maze, Codorus Park, Brown’s Orchard, Indian Echo Caverns, and many more. They even have a Street Rod festival hosted by the NSRA. This summer we even took advantage of some of the free tours that they offer (Snyders and Wolfgang Candy.) I thought the lack of stores would hinder things out here, but it is amazing how close everything is. Within 30 minutes you have at least 3 different movie cinemas, 2 indoor malls, lots of restaurants, and many shopping choices. You also have Lancaster, Hershey, Gettysburg and Harrisburg – all of which offer historic venues and entertainment. Harrisburg also has an international airport.
I would like to let you know that the neighbors are wonderful. We are enjoying watching this community grow and we are glad in our decision to build with J A Myers.

My husband and I were amazed and pleased how quickly our new home was completed. We are happy with every aspect of our building experience. We were able to change the floor plans to meet our need for an additional bedroom and full bathroom on the first floor. Any concerns we had during the building process were addressed in a timely manner by the appropriate person.
Jackson Heights is a very diverse community in a great country living atmosphere. Shopping in either direction is only about 15 minutes away and there are many great family venues nearby like Dutch Wonderland and Hershey Park.
I would recommend the Jackson Heights community to my family and friends who are considering buying a new home. Thank you for making this such a positive experience.

We picked Jackson Heights for its location. My husband works in Gettysburg and I work in Harrisburg, so we are about half way in between both locations. I love where we are because I am close to shopping in both Hanover and York. It really is convenient to everything we could possibly need and want.
Many of the homeowners in the neighborhood walk in the evenings and have become sort of a social hour for everyone. People are always waving, saying “Hi!” and stopping to chat. We haven’t met anyone that wasn’t friendly. I would feel comfortable going to any house in Jackson Heights to ask for a cup of sugar. I know I would get it from someone.
We had a wonderful experience building this house. One of us was stopping by just about every day. Frank and all the guys were wonderful in letting us know what was going on and when different things would be done. We were included in every step of the way. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We were even able to get into our house a month early!
J A Myers Homes and Jackson Heights were the perfect fit for us!

Ben,
My husband Tony and I just wanted to thank you for making some recent repairs to our home. We had purchased a home that is almost 5 years old on Grandview Road in October ’07. Upon moving in, we immediately noticed some water damage around one of the windows in the front of the hours. Apparently the owners had known of this but didn’t make the repair themselves. My husband contacted you and the water leak was promptly addressed and repaired. In addition to the leak being repaired, the stone on the front of the house was also sealed to prevent any further issues from occurring.
Thank you very much for your quick response, timely repair of the window, and for going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction (even on a home that was not new construction.) Every employee that we encountered seemed very professional and eager to help.
When we purchased the home, my husband and I were very hesitant to purchase from a larger building company like yours. We felt that because you built so many homes a year that customer service might not be such a top priority due to the large volume of sales/construction etc. done per year. We were definitely proved wrong. You did not have to address the window leak of our now-five-year-old home, certainly not free of charge. We would definitely not hesitate to do business with your company again. Thanks so much for everything.

Dear Ben:
Thanks so much for your work at the Laughman property on Grandview Road.
Your efforts were above and beyond our expectations and greatly appreciated.
I spoke to Mrs. Laughman following a very heavy rain and she felt that the
problem was solved.
I often recommend you folks as builders and will share this story with new
clients and fellow realtors. Thanks again for your prompt attention to this
problem.
Sincerely,

“We were pleased with every aspect of our building experience with JA Myers Homes. We were able to make structural changes and choose our own lighting fixtures. Their architect even arranged for our basement windows to not be placed under the deck we planned to add later. They also worked with us as we made other changes to the standard plan.”
